Shut Eye is an elaborate world of parts—of buttons, lace, paper, teapots, and Styrofoam dolls— set into a rhythm that relates the pieces.
Rivkah calls her animation process “image-based and not narrative-based in any predetermined way. The narrative begins to develop once I’ve begun animating and I can see what the images are turning into through playback. Once I have a sense of that, I’ll tailor the sequences towards the narrative.”
